I used to have a colorful rainbow hair around summer 2007 and changed it for a bright blue a few months later (ignore the bad quality, pics were taken too many years ago xD)

Solía llevar el pelo hecho un arcoiris allá por el verano del 2007 y lo había cambiado por un azul clarito unos meses más tarde (ignorad la mala calidad, las fotos fueron sacadas hace demasiados años xD)

I chosen to buy #LagoonBlue semi-permanent hair dye at this site (spanish) cos it was way more cheaper. International shipping costs are AWFUL right now...

I bought 2 of them cos I haver medium-large hair and they come in tiny packs (>_<)

Decidí comprar el tinte semipermanente #LagoonBlue en esta web (española) porque era más barato que en la oficial. Los gastos de envío internacionales APESTAN ahora mismo...
Compré 2 botes porque tengo media melena y vienen en botes muy pequeños (>_<)

I mixed it with hair conditioner to give it a lighter tone (scared cos it seemed too dark inside the bottle) and give it some highlights.

Lo mezclé con acondicionador para darle un tono más clarito (me acojoné porque parecía muy oscuro en el bote) y darle unas mechas.

I'm gonna share some DO & DON'Ts since so many people are afraid of fantasy hair dyes or doesn't know how to properly get an intense color at the first try!

Voy a compartir con vosotros algunos consejos de QUÉ HACER Y QUÉ NO HACER, ya que mucha gente tiene miedo a los tintes de fantasía o no saben cómo conseguir un color intenso ¡a la primera!

DO:

Do bleach ur hair first for an intense color/absorption.
Do use an acid PH shampoo or a toner one before apply fantasy hair dyes.
Do wear rubber or plastic gloves when applying the hair colour (unless u wanna turn a smurf).
Do use vaseline, petroleum jelly, body lotion or baby oil around the hairline to avoid staining of the forehead, neck & ears.
As with all hair colours, do a swatch test first.
Do carry out a skin sensitivity patch test on a discrete area of skin (behind the ear is popular), at least 48 hours prior to application. If in this period you notice any side effects such as swelling, itching or redness etc then do NOT continue to use the product.
Do use a plastic cap for a better result.
Do dry ur hair without any heat.
Do use serum to repair damaged hair.
Do wash ur hair with cold water (or not too hot).
Do mix the product with white hair conditioner for pastel tones or lighter ones.

QUÉ HACER:

Decolora tu pelo primero para una gran cobertura del color y buen resultado.
Usa un champú de PH ácido o un toner/matizante antes de aplicar el tinte fantasía por primera vez.
Ponte guantes de plástico o látex cuando apliques el tinte (a no ser que quieras convertirte en un pitufo).
Usa vaselina, lubricante, leche corporal o aceite de bebé alrededor de la línea del pelo para evitar manchas en la frente, cuello y orejas.
Como con todos los tintes, haz una prueba en tu muñeca primero.
Hazte una prueba de sensibilidad de la piel en una zona discreta (detrás de la oreja, por ejemplo), y déjala en la zona 48 horas como mínimo antes de teñirte. Si durante ese tiempo ves efectos secundarios tales como hinchazón, picor o rojez, NO te tiñas.
Usa un gorro de ducha para un mejor resultado.
Seca el pelo sin aplicar calor.
Usa serum para reparar el pelo dañado.
Lávate el pelo con agua fría (o templadita).
Mezcla el tinte con acondicionador blanco para conseguir tonos pastel o más claros que el del producto.

DON'T:

Do not mix Directions with peroxide.
Do not use on eyelashes.
Do not use shampoo with conditioner included.
Do not use heat!! Avoid hair dryers and straighten products.
Do not wash ur hair with hot water (or try to use it the less and always use cold water for the final washing routine).
Do not wash ur hair everyday, try to do it only twice per week, this way the color wouldn't fade too soon and you wouldn't damage your hair.
Do not use shampoo or any other hair products containing panthenol, parabens or silicone (this stuff will make ur hair "bleed" while washing it /bye bye color).

QUÉ NO HACER:

No mezcles los tintes de Directions (o cualquiera de fantasía) con peróxido.
No lo uses en las pestañas.
No uses un champú con acondicionador incluído.
No apliques calor! Evita usar secadores de pelo o planchas.
No te laves el pelo con agua caliente (o intenta usarla lo menos posible y siempre acaba tus aclarados con agua fría).
No te laves el pelo todos los días, intenta hacerlo sólo un par de veces a la semana, de este modo el color no desteñirá tan pronto y no estropearas tanto tu pelo.
No uses champú u otros productos que contengan panthenol, parabenos o silicona (estas cosas harán "sangrar" a tu pelo mientras lo enjabonas /adiós al color).

After a light deco/bleach. This is the best tone to get an intense color (as u can see isn't too damaged cos I always do it by myself after too many years of self-practice lol)

Después de una decoloración baja. Este es el mejor tono para conseguir un color intenso (como podéis ver, apenas está dañado porque siempre me lo hago yo misma y llevo muchos años practicando lol)

COLOR INTENSITY

The colour tone will be determined by both the natural colour of the hair to which it is applied, and the actual condition of the hair:

INTENSIDAD DEL COLOR

El tono de color resultante dependerá del propio color natural del pelo al que se le va a aplicar y del estado actual del pelo:

NATURAL HAIR: slight color absorption giving a soft colour tone (say bye to the color in a couple of washings, this is why a lot of people fail with fantasy colors, cos they don't know u must bleach it first for a high absorption).
PELO NATURAL: muy poca absorción del color dándole unos reflejos suaves (dile adiós al tinte en un par de lavados, esto es por lo que mucha gente falla al ponerse un tinte de fantasía, porque no saben que tienen que decolorarse el pelo primero si quieren una buena cobertura del color).

DYED, POROUS OR BLEACHED HAIR: hair already coloured or porous one, the colour absorption will be average, average intensity. BEST CHOICE! (cos even if u're light blonde, as me, if u don't bleach it, the color will fade in a couple of days washing ur hair)
PELO TEÑIDO, POROSO O DECOLORADO: el pelo teñido o ya poroso, la absorción del color será tremenda, muy intensa. ¡LA MEJOR OPCIÓN! (porque, incluso si ya eres rubia clarita natural -como yo-, si no lo decoloras, el color también se irá en un par de días lavándote el pelo)

Of course, even if u follow all this steps, the color will fade cos they're semi-permanent ones.

For me, it started to fade 3 weeks later~ From Lagoon Blue to turquoise, light bubble blue to grey-blueish one.

Por supuesto, aunque sigas todos estos pasos, el color desteñirá porque son tintes semipermanentes.

A mí me empezó a desteñir al cabo de unas 3 semanas~ De un Lagoon Blue a turquesa, de un azul clarito a un azul grisáceo.

Now the tricky step is how to maintain it after the first dye!

I waited til the color almost faded it all, but u don't have to wait that long xD. So, after 3 weeks, it was the time to dye it again or... use a color hair mask, this is the easiest way to maintain the color lol.

I bought the blue tone from Nirvel (nutre color) at a shop @ my city selling hair salon professional products (^_^)

¡El paso más complicado es cómo mantener el color después de la primera aplicación!

Esperé a que el color se fuese casi del todo, pero no tenéis por qué esperar tanto xD. Así pues, al cabo de 3 semanas, era tiempo de teñirlo de nuevo o... usar una mascarilla de color, esta es la forma más fácil de mantener el color lol

Me compré el tono azul de Nirvel (nutre color) en una tienda especializada en productos de peluquería de mi ciudad (^_^)

Just apply it on ur wet hair, right after washing ur hair (please use gloves xD) and let it be for 20-30 mins for a long lasting coverage/absorption. Rinse with warm water (don't use shampoo, this is a hair mask) and let it natural dry.

Simplemente aplícalo sobre el pelo mojado, justo después del aclarado (por dios usad guantes xD) y déjalo actuar de 20 a 30 minutos para una mayor cobertura y absorción. Aclarad con agua templada (no uséis champú, esto es una mascarilla) y dejadlo secar al aire.

The first time Directions faded, I ended having weird and different color tones all over my hair. When u start washing ur hair after the first hair mask treatment, it will fade maintaining the same tone all over ur hair, plus it fades way too little. I only used it 2 times in 4 months!

La primera vez que el tinte de Directions se destiñó, acabé luciendo un montón de tonos raros y diferentes por el pelo. Cuando empiezas a lavarte el pelo después de aplicarte la mascarilla de color, empezará a caerse pero manteniendo el tono, además de que destiñe muy poquito. ¡Sólo lo usé 2 veces en 4 meses!

Dyed it once with Directions on 24th December -> Hair color mask around mid January -> Another hair mask apply one month later.

Me lo teñí una vez con Directions el 24 de diciembre -> Mascarilla de color a mediados de enero -> Otra aplicación de la mascarilla de color un mes más tarde.

Now it's time to, instead of use the hair mask again, bleach my blonde roots and apply Directions dye on them. Last time I already had blonde roots, but the mask didn't give them a blue tone... they turned greenish cos it's virgin hair (not bleached) xD

Ahora es momento de, en vez de usar la mascarilla de color otra vez, decolorar mis raíces rubias y aplicar el tinte de Directions de nuevo. La última vez ya tenía raíces rubias, pero la mascarilla no las puso azules... acabaron siendo verdosas ya que era pelo natural-virgen (sin decolorar) xD
